Rainbow Mountain Trek 2 Day 1 Night
Local Trekkers Peru will provide you with the highest quality service throughout your journey in the Andes. We run our trips much different than other operators in that we run private trips and very small groups limiting them to a max of 10 passengers to maximize the experience, and give you the full attention of our guides and staff. (Single trekker and large groups are welcome, please inquire us) Our chef can cater to any dietary needs and will always prepare a delicious spread of local Peruvian style foods for you to enjoy while on our treks. We celebrate special occasions, and work hard to make every trek memorable. Our staff is available to answer any questions in full detail and make sure your booking process goes smoothly and efficiently. CONSIDERATIONS
This treks are challenging and very rewarding at the same time. Hikers should be reasonably fit and healthy. note that you are trekking at a high elevation (above 14,000ft) and you should be rested before up to start this journey. We highly recommend spending at least two to three days in Cusco or similar elevation to acclimatize, and drink plenty of water the days prior to the hike. Please consult your doctor for proper advice on trekking in high altitude.

Peru has a great variety of mountains, our professional guide will take you on this journey of discovery through the Peruvian Andes, it will be an unforgettable experience, you will enjoy the most incredible night under the brightest stars you have ever seen and a milky way so colorful that It will leave you stunned. This new route is an out of the ordinary adventure that will constantly take your breath away. Each step will take us through a combination of wild desert landscapes, glacial peaks, hurried rivers and challenging mountains, everything seems intact and undiscovered.
Itinerary
DAY 01: CUSCO – QESIUNO – CIRCLE LAKE.
Distance: 15km/ 9,5 miles
Elevation: 4200 masl = 13779 Feet – 5000 masl = 16404 Feet
The first day of your adventure we will pick you up at your hotel at 5:00am and drive 3 hours to the trailhead. Our chef will prepare a hot breakfast to recharge our energies for the begins the walk. Our Guide from Local Trekkers Peru will give safety recommendations to ensure you are fully prepared for the next two days. Our tour begins in a large green valley where we can appreciate hundreds of alpacas, local farmers and the beautiful Ausangate mountain in the distance, a preview of what will come on your trip. We will stop around noon for lunch and rest, and can recharge for the second leg of the walk to Puccacocha. Around 16,000 feet, we will find ourselves just above Lake Puccacocha, and looking straight ahead at Ausangate Mountain, while we see a beautiful active glacier that crashes into the lake below. Our last stop of the day will be in the circle lake, where at sunset we can enjoy an amazing landscape in the stillness of the Andes. Then we will install the dining tent with chairs for your group to relax and enjoy the conversation while our team prepares dinner. In the night you will see an unforgettable night sky full of constellations, shooting stars, while enjoying a coca tea as a greeting to the Apus.
DAY 02: CIRCLE LAGUNA – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – CUSCO.
Distance: 13km/ 8 miles
Elevation: 5000 masl = 16404 Feet – 5200m = 17060 Feet
This is the day we will reach the rainbow mountain, and the best is that you are almost there. Our team will wake you up at 5 am with coca tea delivered to your tent, then you will have a hearty breakfast to recharge your energy to make your final climb to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain). When you reach the top, you will have as much time as you want to enjoy the incredible 360 degree views of the surrounding lands and explore the mountain. The place is magical enjoy the beauty and nature that surrounds it. Climbing the Mountain will take approximately three hours; Up there we will celebrate the successful trip, then we will enjoy lunch before leaving back to Cusco (3 hours). We usually return around 6:00 pm. But it will depend on how much time we spend above the mountain, when we arrive in Cusco our team will leave you at your hotel. *Itinerary subject to change.

- Walking sticks (you can rent from us which cost 15 dollars for a professional black diamond pair)
- Mineral water (you can buy bottle of mineral water in Ollantaytambo)
- Horse to ride or to carry extra backpacks (120 dollars per horse or mule)
