  • [4:30 to 5:00 am] – Hotel Pick-up & Departure: We begin early, picking you up directly from your accommodation in Cusco. Settle into our private van for a scenic journey spanning about 8 hours in total.
  • [Morning] – Huancarani, Paucartambo & Ninamarca: After 1 hour, we stop in Huancarani where you can order breakfast at a local restaurant. Two hours later, we explore Paucartambo, a colonial town famous for the Virgen del Carmen festival. Next, enjoy a guided visit to the mystical Pre-Inca Tombs of Ninamarca.
  • [Mid-Day] – Acjanaco Pass & Cloud Forest Descent: We reach the park’s entrance at Acjanaco (4000 masl = 13123 feet) for a quick briefing. From here, we descend into the mystical Cloud Forest, keeping our eyes peeled for the vibrant Cock of the Rock, woolly monkeys, and the elusive spectacled bear.
  • [Afternoon] – Atalaya Port to Lodge: After crossing the cloud forest, we arrive at the port of Atalaya. A thrilling 40-minute boat ride along the Alto Madre de Dios River brings us to Paititi Lodge (750 masl = 2460 feet) or Bamboo Lodge. Enjoy private rooms, toilets, showers, and electricity before a restful dinner.

Day 02: Bamboo or Paititi Lodge – Reserved Zone – Casa Matsiguenka Lodge

  • [Early Morning] – Parrots Clay Lick: Wake up very early for a short 20-minute trip to the vibrant parrots clay lick. Enjoy your breakfast right on our boat while marveling at colorful macaws and parrots starting their day.
  • [Morning] – Entering the Reserved Zone: We navigate for 4 hours to reach the Limonal control point. After checking in, we venture strictly into the highly protected manu park for another 3 hours. Keep your camera ready; low river beaches are the prime hunting grounds for the majestic Jaguar.
  • [Afternoon] – Casa Matsiguenka Lodge: Arrive by the afternoon at our rustic lodge, authentically built with palm leaves and forest materials by the local Matsiguenka tribe. Your stay directly supports this community’s sustainable tourism and conservation efforts.
  • [Evening] – Night Walk Expedition: After a delicious dinner, step into the darkness for a thrilling guided walk. Discover the hidden nightlife of the jungle, spotting giant tarantulas, emerald boas, and the massive Amazonian bullfrog.

Day 03: Casa Matsiguenka Lodge – Salvador Lake – Otorongo Lake

  • [Morning] – Catamaran at Cocha Salvador: Wake up to the loud sound of howler monkeys. Following breakfast, we head to Cocha Salvador. We will board a specially designed catamaran to peacefully navigate the waters, aiming to spot the endangered giant river otters, alongside anacondas and giant turtles.
  • [Mid-Day] – Lodge Lunch & Relaxation: Return to the lodge where our talented chef awaits with varied, delicious local dishes. Take some time to relax and absorb the profound tranquility of the rainforest.
  • [Afternoon] – Otorongo Lake & Canopy Tower: Embark on a 1-hour jungle walk leading to the breathtaking Otorongo Lake. Climb a towering 30-meter observation tower for an unparalleled panoramic view of the canopy, searching for black caimans and diverse monkey troops.
  • [Evening] – Second Night Walk: After dinner, we offer another night walk to explore the nocturnal wilderness. Walk the trails to find wild boars, foxes, giant beetles, and fascinating leaf-cutting ants before returning for a deep sleep.

Day 04: Casa Matsiguenka Lodge – Dorado Lodge

  • [Morning] – Upriver Navigation & Wildlife Spotting: After breakfast, we leave the Casa Matsiguenka Lodge. We will travel by boat upriver for about 5 hours, enjoying lunch on board. This return journey offers a second chance to spot hidden Jaguars, capybaras, and peccaries.
  • [Mid-Day] – Aguas Calientes Natural Hot Springs: As we exit the strictly reserved zone, we stop at Aguas Calientes. Immerse yourself and relax in the natural hot spring baths surrounded by lush jungle scenery.
  • [4:00 pm] – Arrival at Dorado Lodge: We reach our next accommodation, Dorado Lodge, around 4:00 pm. Use your free time to settle in or enjoy a refreshing swim in the Madre de Dios River before our evening meal.
  • [Evening] – Tapir Clay Lick Night Walk: If you have energy left, join an optional 1-hour night walk to a specialized clay lick. Under the cover of darkness, we hope to observe the Tapir—the largest mammal in the Amazon rainforest.

Day 05: Dorado Lodge – Atalaya Port – Cusco

  • [Morning] – River Journey to Atalaya Port: This is the bittersweet final day of our expedition. After breakfast, we take our boat for about 3 hours back to Atalaya Port, where our private van awaits to begin the journey back to the Andes.
  • [Mid-Day] – Dos Loritos Animal Rescue: Along the route, we stop at the Dos Loritos rescue center. Experience heartwarming direct contact with rescued monkeys, capybaras, and an Amazon tapir, learning about their rehabilitation before they are safely returned to nature.
  • [8:00 pm] – Arrival in Cusco: We continue our scenic drive toward the city, arriving in Cusco around 8:00 pm. Your guide will ensure you are dropped off safely at or right next to your hotel.
