Itinerary
Day 01: Cusco – Tinki – Upis
The journey begins: Traditional breakfast and hot springs.
4:30 AM – 5:00 AM – Pickup: We pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco for a 3-hour drive in our private van to Tinki (3,800 masl).
Local Breakfast: In this small village, we enjoy a delicious, hearty breakfast featuring pancakes, omelets, fresh bread, and hot drinks (coffee, coca tea, hot chocolate) to fuel the day.
Hike to Upis: We begin our 4-hour trek towards our first campsite, Upis (4,400 masl). Along the way, the view of the snow-capped Ausangate dominates the horizon.
Relaxation: Upon arrival, we can enjoy the natural hot springs at Upis with a spectacular view of the mountain. Meanwhile, our chef prepares a delicious dinner. We sleep in comfortable tents, dreaming of the adventure ahead.

Day 02: Upis – Puka Cocha – Hananta
Alpine lakes, waterfalls, and Andean wildlife.
The Trek Continues: After a nutritious breakfast, we hike for about 7 hours. Today offers some of the best close-up views of the Ausangate glacier.
Nature Watch: Keep your eyes open for wild vicuñas, alpacas, llamas, and vizcachas. We pass pine and eucalyptus trees, crystal-clear streams, and waterfalls.
Puka Cocha Lake: After 3 hours, we reach the beautiful Puka Cocha Lake. We take a break here to refresh and enjoy the stunning turquoise waters.
Arrival at Camp: We hike 4 more hours to reach Hananta (4,740 masl) around 5:00 PM. Our team will have the tents ready. We recharge with a varied dinner and hot drinks to warm up against the cold night.

Day 03: Hananta – Rainbow Mountain – Ausangate Lake
The longest day: Beating the crowds to the colorful summit.
Early Start: We breakfast very early to beat the day-trippers from Cusco. Today is the longest and hardest day of the the Ausangate trek.
Rainbow Mountain: We hike 3 hours from camp to reach Rainbow Mountain (5,100 masl). Enjoy this natural masterpiece in relative solitude. Your guide will explain the geology and mineral formation that creates the vibrant colors.
Trek to Ausangate Lake: After exploring for 1-2 hours, we begin the 5-hour hike back towards our next campsite at Ausangate Lake (4,650 masl). A succulent dinner awaits to restore your energy after a demanding day.

Day 04: Ausangate Lake – Palomani Pass – Jampa Pampa
Conquering the highest point of the expedition.
The Summit Push: We prepare for a 6-hour hike. We ascend first to Apacheta Pass (4,600 masl) and then conquer the Palomani Pass (5,200 masl), the highest point of the entire trek.
The Views: At the top, we are rewarded with spectacular views of the southeast mountain range, including the Mariposa and Caracol peaks. We descend into the valley for lunch.
Jampa Pampa: In the afternoon, enjoying views of the Tres Picos and Puca Punta snow-capped peaks, we arrive at the broad green valley of Jampa Pampa (4,650 masl) for dinner and rest.

Day 05: Jampa Pampa – Jampa Pass – Pacchanta
Crossing the final pass to the village of weavers.
Jampa Pass: We head northwest to the last pass of the hike, Jampa Pass (5,005 masl).
Colored Lakes: Descending from the pass, we see several colored lakes and stop for lunch beside the beautiful blue-green Ticococha Lake.
Arrival at Pacchanta: We hike to the traditional village of Pacchanta (4,300 masl). This high-altitude herding village has adapted to tourism, showcasing traditional weavings and a unique lifestyle.
Thermal Reward: We set up camp near the village. You have the afternoon free to relax in the famous Pacchanta Hot Springs (optional) and perhaps enjoy a well-deserved beer with Ausangate as your backdrop.

Day 06: Pacchanta – 7 Lakes Exploration – Cultural Immersion
A day to absorb the magic of the Andes.
Deep Exploration: Note: This extra day allows us to fully enjoy what shorter treks rush through. Today we immerse ourselves in the beauty surrounding Pacchanta. We explore the circuit of the 7 Lakes (including Azulcocha and Otorongo), taking our time to photograph the reflections of the Apu Ausangate in the water.
Living Culture: We spend time in the village, witnessing the creation of intricate alpaca textiles and learning about the local herding lifestyle.
Final Night: We enjoy a final soak in the hot springs and a celebratory dinner at our Pacchanta camp.

Day 07: Pacchanta – Tinki – Cusco
Farewell to the mountains and return home.
Farewell Ceremony: After a delicious last breakfast, we hold a farewell ceremony for our horsemen and chefs. This is the perfect moment to thank them for their hard work and offer tips if you wish.
The Final Walk: We walk the final 4 hours back to Tinki.
Return to Cusco: Our private van will be waiting to take us back to the city. We arrive in Cusco around 5:00 PM, where we will drop you off at the door of your accommodation.
