Our team of porters and guides

Why do we use travel backpacks?

Our logistics team of porters is the fundamental foundation for making every experience on the Inca Trail comfortable, organized, and safe. They are responsible for transporting all the camping equipment, tents, sleeping mats, cooking utensils, food, and supplies necessary so you can focus solely on enjoying the trek and experiencing the adventure to the fullest.

Thanks to their effort and dedication, each camp is set up and ready before your arrival, allowing you to rest peacefully after each day.

To do their job more efficiently and safely, we use specially designed travel backpacks, which distribute the weight evenly, avoiding overloads and protecting the health of our porters.

These backpacks are adapted to carry all the equipment in an orderly manner, keeping each item in optimal condition throughout the trek. This system allows us to set up camps more quickly, keep everything organized, and ensure that you enjoy a well-planned, comfortable, and worry-free experience.

Porters Cargando

Behind every unforgettable experience on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a team of committed and dedicated porters who make it possible for you to experience the adventure in total comfort. They are the silent heroes who carry your camping gear, food, utensils, tents, tables, and all the necessary supplies on their backs to make your journey safe and enjoyable.

While you enjoy the trek and the breathtaking Andean landscapes, our porters move at a steady pace, ensuring everything is ready for your arrival. Every camp, every meal, and every logistical detail is made possible thanks to their tireless efforts and incredible physical stamina. Their work not only allows you to walk lightly, but also allows you to focus on what’s truly important: enjoying the experience, connecting with nature, and experiencing the history of the Incas.

At Local Trekkers Peru, we deeply value the work of our porters. We provide them with fair working conditions, respectful treatment, and high-quality equipment to ensure their well-being. In addition, they receive specialized training to optimize organization, load handling, and traveler service, ensuring impeccable service on every expedition.

They are much more than logistical support: they are guardians of Andean tradition and traveling companions who provide warmth, security, and commitment at every step. Thanks to them, every moment of the Inca Trail becomes a unique and unforgettable experience.

Local Professionals with an Andean Heart

At Local Trekkers Peru, our porters are much more than just luggage carriers. They are the true guardians of the mountains, experienced professionals who know every trail, every climate change, and every sacred corner of the Peruvian Andes.

Our team of porters is made up of local inhabitants of Andean communities, who have inherited from generation to generation a deep respect for Pachamama (Mother Earth) and ancestral knowledge of the mountains.

Each of them not only carries the necessary luggage for your adventure, but also carries with them stories, traditions, and a unique connection with nature that will enrich you throughout the experience.

At Local Trekkers Peru, we have highly trained professional guides certified by the relevant Peruvian tourism authorities. Our guides are local experts born and raised in the Cusco region, who combine their deep ancestral knowledge of the Andes with first-class technical training.

Each guide on our team holds official certifications in adventure tourism, high mountain first aid, and remote area rescue. They are also fluent in multiple languages, including Spanish, English, and Quechua, allowing them to communicate effectively with travelers from around the world while sharing the ancient stories and traditions of their ancestors.

Our guides not only know every trail, every sacred stone, and every panoramic view of the routes we travel, but they are also passionate storytellers, experts in Andean flora and fauna, and guardians of Inca culture. Their average experience exceeds eight years leading expeditions in the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and other emblematic routes in the region.
