DAY 01: CUSCO – CLOUD FOREST – BAMBOO LODGE

• [Early Morning] – [Departure from Cusco]: Your journey begins with an 8-hour scenic drive by private minibus. We leave Cusco and ascend into the breathtaking high mountain area (3,900 masl).
• [Mid-Morning] – [Ancestral History]: We make a brief, fascinating stop at the pre-Inca cemetery of Ninamarca and explore the charming colonial town of Paucartambo.
• [Afternoon] – [Cloud Forest Descent]: Descend the eastern slopes of the Andes into a vibrant cloud forest. Keep your eyes peeled for ferns, orchids, and our national bird, the bright red Andean cock-of-the-rock, alongside playful woolly monkeys.
• [Evening] – [Arrival at Bamboo Lodge]: Settle into your comfortable double room with a private bathroom at the Bamboo Lodge (700 masl). After dinner, your expert guide will brief you on tomorrow’s exciting adventure.

DAY 02: BAMBOO LODGE – DORADO ECOLOGICAL LODGE

• [Early Morning] – [Journey to Atalaya]: After breakfast, we travel by minibus to the port of Atalaya (600 masl). Along the way, we will visit an animal rescue station and take a brief walk to spot rare orchids and birds.
• [Morning to Afternoon] – [Amazon River Navigation]: Embark on an incredible 8-hour journey in a 15-meter motorized canoe. Glide along the Alto Madre de Dios River, watching the landscape transform into lowland rainforest.
• [Late Afternoon] – [Wildlife Spotting & Village Visit]: Scan the rocky riverbanks for Kingfishers, alligators, and some of the 13 monkey species native to Manu. We will also visit a local town to appreciate their traditional way of life before arriving at the Dorado Lodge.
• [Night] – [Nocturnal Walk]: Step into the jungle under the stars. We will search for frogs, snakes, and insects, culminating in a visit to the lodge’s main attraction: an active tapir clay lick.

DAY 03: DORADO ECOLOGICAL LODGE – OTORONGO LAKE – CASA MATSIGUENKA

• [Morning] – [Navigation to Otorongo Lake]: Continue by boat deeper into the reserve. Watch the river edges for turtles, capybaras, and with luck, a majestic Jaguar resting on a log. The pristine landscapes here make this an absolute dream for any Manu National Park photography tour.
• [Afternoon] – [Otorongo Observation Tower]: Arrive at the stunning Otorongo oxbow lake. Climb the observation tower for a chance to spot giant river otters, then walk the surrounding trails to uncover the secrets of the rainforest.
• [Night] – [Casa Matsiguenka]: Spend the night at the campsite in Casa Matsiguenka, featuring indigenous building techniques, twin rooms with mosquito nets, and available showers/toilets.

ABOUT THE CASA MATSIGUENKA

The boat trip goes on and one will be able to understand why Manu is famous for its wildlife. On the river edges you will be able to observe groups of turtles, White caimans (Caiman cocodrylus), Capybaras (Hidrochaeris hydrochaeris) and maybe a Jaguar (Panthera onca) resting on a log and observing its territory. Arriving in Oxbow Lake called Otorongo, Here we have possibilities to see the giant otters from the Otorongo observation tower.

Later on, visiting the trails around the lake together with the guide to learn the functions and secrets of the tropical rainforest. We spend the Night at the Camping in casa matsiguenka Showers and toilets available. Here we have a very good chances to find the king of the jungle (Jaguar – Otorongo).

DAY 04: CASA MATSIGUENKA LODGE – SALVADOR LAKE – CASA MATSIGUENKA

• [Morning] – [Salvador Lake Catamaran Safari]: Today, we explore the spectacular Salvador oxbow lake. Paddling silently on a catamaran, you will have incredible opportunities to watch a family of giant otters fishing and playing in their natural habitat.
• [Afternoon] – [Untouched Wildlife Observation]: Because the animals here have never faced hunting pressure, you can peacefully observe black caimans and rare birds, such as the fascinating Hoatzin.
• [Evening] – [Return to Casa Matsiguenka]: We return to the lodge to relax and share stories of the day’s wildlife encounters in the heart of the jungle.

DAY 05: CASA MATSIGUENKA LODGE – DORADO LODGE

• [Early Morning] – [Jungle Wake-up Call]: Let the powerful, echoing calls of the Red Howler monkeys wake you up for another day of exploration.
• [Morning to Afternoon] – [Manu River Wildlife Cruise]: After a delicious breakfast, we begin our return journey along the Manu River. Enjoy excellent chances to spot caimans, tapirs, peccaries, and abundant monkey troops along the banks.
• [Afternoon & Night] – [Jungle Walks]: Arrive back at Dorado Lodge. We will venture out for guided walks inside the jungle during both the late afternoon and night to discover creatures that only emerge after dusk.

DAY 06: DORADO LODGE – SOGA DE ORO LODGE

• [Morning] – [Upriver Navigation]: Leave the lodge and head up the Madre de Dios River for a scenic 6-hour boat ride.
• [3:00 PM] – [Arrival at Soga de Oro Lodge]: Arrive at the comfortable, community-run Soga de Oro Lodge, a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.
• [Late Afternoon] – [Cliff Lookout]: Hike an untouched forest trail to a breathtaking cliffside lookout. Watch the mesmerizing sunset flights of roosting parrots and Macaws over the river.

DAY 07: SOGA DE ORO LODGE – CUSCO

• [Early Morning] – [Departure to Atalaya]: We leave the lodge very early to navigate back to the port of Atalaya.
• [Morning to Afternoon] – [Cloud Forest Ascent]: Meet our private bus and begin the incredibly scenic journey back up through the Cloud Forest and the soaring Andes mountains.
