Manu Jungle Tour 5 Days 4 Nights
Local Trekkers Peru offers the 5 Days tour in the Manu National Park, this wonderful biosphere is located in Madre de Dios and Paucartambo, Cusco. It is an area protected by the Peruvian government in 1977 and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. It is the largest National Park in Peru, with an area 1 909 800 hectares. It is divided into three large areas: The National Park, with 1,532,806 hectares; The Reserved Zone, with 257,000 hectares; And the Transitional or Cultural Zone, with 120 000 hectares. The park protects several ecological zones due to this topographic range, it has one of the highest levels of biodiversity of any park in the world. In this park there are more than 15,000 species of plants in Manu, and up to 250 varieties of trees have been found per hectare. It also houses more than 1000 bird species more than the number of bird species found in the United States and Canada combined and almost 10% of the total bird species in the world. It also has one of the largest amounts of terrestrial vertebrates found in the tropical forests of Latin America, it is also the last refuge of the largest feline (The Great JAGUAR) of the Peruvian Amazon.
DAY 01: CUSCO – CLOUD FOREST – BAMBOO LODGE
We will leave Cusco early in our comfortable bus until we reach the folk village of Paucartambo, then we will visit the pre-Inca funerary towers of Ninamarca, then we will drive through a cloud forest full of plants and beautiful orchids, we will have the opportunity to observe the national bird of the Peru: Gallito de las Rocas (Rupicola Peruviana), monkeys, many birds and other species and with a little luck, we will see the only South American bear, the spectacled bear (Tremarctos Ornatus). In the afternoon we arrive at Pilcopata, where we will spend the night at the Lodge there will be showers and private bathrooms to cool off.

DAY 02: PILCOPATA – AGUAS CALIENTES
After our breakfast, we will go by bus until we reach the port of Atalaya, where our motorized adventure begins until the hot waters through the Alto Madre de Dios River (4 hours), and here we can bathe in the natural hot springs and swim in the river, in all this tour we can appreciate incredible landscapes and also enjoy the warm climate of the rainforest. In the afternoon we will have a walk to explore the jungle for 2 hours to see the alligators (Caiman Crocodylus), and other species and medicinal plants, also continue enjoying the natural hot springs.

DAY 03: AGUAS CALIENTES – SOGA DE ORO LODGE
We will start our day early by boat to go see the parrots eating clay on the river bank, then we will go to the next Soga de Oro Lodge, on this day we can also enjoy beautiful sunsets on this trip. Also in the river we will observe the largest rodent in the world: capybara (Hidrochaeris). In the afternoon we will do different activities, and after sunset we will do a night walk to observe frogs, toads, insects, bats and snakes.

DAY 04: SOGA DE ORO LODGE – LAKE MACHUHUASI
Very early in the morning. We take the boat for aproximaly 25 minutes to the lake Machuhuasi where there are balsa rafts to go along the lake for 2 hours. Where you can see Capibaras (biggest rat in the wolrd) and other species of bird like hoatzin (prehistoric birds), then we will walk one hour inside the jungle, nigh in Lodge.

DAY 05: SOGA DE ORO LODGE – ATALAYA – CUSCO
On our last day we will leave very early in the morning, we will sail by boat for 20 minutes, going down the stream where we can see green parrots, blue-headed parrot (Pionus Menstrus), floury parrot (Amazonian farinosa), chestnut-fronted macaw (Ara severe) and many others, returning to the lodge, after breakfast we will pack our belongings, then the boat will take us to the port of Atalaya where our bus will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco.
