Huchuy Qosqo To Machu Picchu 2 Days

The Huchuy Qosqo hike is a combination of impressive Inca ruins, rural villages, magnificent snow-capped mountains, exotic vegetation and extraordinary ecological variety. This tour is very different from others, we will leave Tambomachay towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas with unforgettable views of incredible landscapes until we reach Huchuy Qosqo that has a mixture of pre-Inca and Inca architecture.

Huchuy Qosqo 2 Days

DAY 01: CUSCO – TAMBOMACHAY – PUMAMARCA.

Our tour begins with your pick up from your hotel at 06:00 am, heading to the archaeological site of Tambomachay; From here we will begin our walk through landscapes of Puna and over the Sicllaccasa pass (4020 masl / 13186 feet). In this step we will find archaeological remains and wild crops, such as tarwi, and a large number of cacti. Then we will continue to the Queullococha pass (4185 masl / 13727 feet), where we can see the snowy peaks of Veronica, Pitusiray and Chicon. On our way through Lake Queullococha we will see huallatas, ducks and small fish and then go up to the Challu Challu Pass (4220 masl / 13842 feet). We observe the plains of Chinchero and the lagoons of Piuray and Qoricocha, then we will ascend to the fourth step in Rumicruz (4230 masl / 13874 feet). Then we headed to the Inca rock quarry (4220 masl / 13842 feet), which is where the rocks were extracted to build Huchuy Qosqo. Finally we descend to the community of Pucamarca (4010 masl / 13153 feet), Here we will have dinner and camp overnight.

DAY 02: HUCHUY QOSQO – CUSCO.

After having our breakfast; We will continue our hiking to Huchuy Qosqo downhill towards the canyon of Leon Punku, we will continue our way through the remains of an Inca bridge and trail. In addition this canyon has geological formations surrounded by majestic rocks and rocks that direct the river to Huchuy Qosqo a (3600 mals / 11808 feet). Huchuy Qosqo is an Inca archaeological complex with an imposing architecture that includes a large open ceremonial center, when we arrive in Huchuy Qosqo we will have a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley, the Vilcanota River, then the Guide will give you a tour of the archaeological center, Then we will walk about two hours to the next point (4200 masl / 13776 feet), going down about two hours until we reach Taucca, where our lunch will take place, finally here we will take the bus that will bring us back to Cusco and our team will leave you in his hotel.

  • Sleeping bags (you can rent from us which cost 20 dollars for a professional one, which can support until -15 degrees celcius or 5 degrees farenheit)
  • Walking sticks (you can rent from us which cost 15 dollars for a professional black diamond pair)
  • Mineral water (you can buy bottle of mineral water in Ollantaytambo)
  • First Breakfast and last lunch and dinner
  • Extra horse or mule to carry extra backpacks or to ride until the second campsite (120 dollars per horse or mule)
