Choquequirao Trek

6 days and 5 nights trek to Choquequirao with a plus Machu Picchu, Amazing places with conexion a through inca roads and beautiful landscapes, both lost cities and last refuges of the incas. Choquequiraw is located on the spur of the Salkantay mountain range, at more than 3030 masl surrounded by the Apus de Padrayoc, Yamana, Ampay, Chokecarpu, Pumasiyo and Panta, on the left bank of the Apurimac River. In the Inca era, it was united and in communication with Machu Picchu by a complex network of trails, with fantastic nature, valleys, snowy mountains and a great variety of plants, birds and animals. The hike to Choquequirao starts from the town of Cachora, which is 4 to 5 hours west of the city of Cusco. The path to Choquequirao is allowed for anyone and can be completed without support; however, most hikers join organized tours that include a guide, camping equipment, mules and chargers to carry all the equipment and a cook to prepare the meal. DAY 01: CUSCO – CACHORA – CAPULIYOC – CHIQUISCA.

We will begin our hike to Choquequirao with your pick up from your hotel at 5:00 am. To travel to the Sacred Valley, specifically to cachora in our private bus (4 hours approx.). Place where our trek begins, our team will enlist all the camping and cooking equipment on the mules and horses.

While we prepare for our first stretch of 2 hours approx. Walking to Capuliyoc, where we will can see all the mountains that surround us. We will continue for 2 more hours descending towards Chiquisca, where our delicious lunch made by our chef awaits us. After lunch and a short rest we will continue the mountain until we reach Playa Rosalina, where we will spend the night in our tents that will already be installed by our team.

Choquequirao Trek 6 Days Plus Machupicchu

DAY 02: SANTA ROSA – CHOQUEQUIRAO – MARAMPATA.

This day we will wake up early, take our breakfast and continue our walk to Santa Rosa, cross the Apurimac River and then climb up a steep slope for 2 hours approx. In Santa Rosa, we will take a short time to catch our breath and continue climbing slowly for approximately 2 hours until we reach Marampata, where our lunch is waiting for us. We will take the afternoon to appreciate the landscape that surrounds us, after dinner we will have an informative session for the next day.

Choquequirao Trek 6 Days Plus Machupicchu

DAY 03: MARAMPATA – PLAYA ROSALINA – CHIQUISCA – COCAMASANA.

This day we will wake up and have breakfast then we will continue our journey, we will head towards Chiquisca descending along the same road to Santa Rosa to the beaches of the Apurimac River (Playa Rosalina) at 1550 masl / 5085 feet. Today we reach Chiquisca for lunch and after lunch we continue walking up until to get Cocamasana where we will spend the night.

DAY 04: COCAMASANA – CAPULIYOC.

This day starts early with our breakfast and then continue our tour of 1 hour and a half approx. towards Marampata and then we will descend towards Rosalina beach for lunch, after lunch we will take a short time to rest and recover energy. We will continue on the climb to Chiquisca for 2 more hours, when we arrived our dinner will served. In chiquisca you can take a shower and try some exotic fruits.

DAY 05: CAPULIYOC – CACHORA – AGUAS CALIENTES.

This day we begin our trip to Machu Picchu, we will leave our camp after breakfast, to make our last stretch of trek to Cachora, where we will have lunch. Then our private transport will be waiting for us to take us to Ollantaytambo, then we will take our train to the town of Aguas Calientes. In the town of Aguas Calientes our Guide will give you recommendations and additional information for tomorrow and will leave you in your hotel.

DAY 06: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU!!!

We wake up early morning about 4:00 to 4:30 am. to have breakfast and start walking up to Machu Picchu which takes one and half hours up to Machu Picchu but there is another option to catch the first bus which leaves 5:30 am to Machu Picchu (25 minutes long) (this is not included in the price it cost 12 dollars bus up and 12 dollars bus down so in both cases you will arrive at 6 am in the morning to Machu Picchu , Machu Picchu gets open at 6 am so you will get in and you will have the opportunity of experience the Sun Rise in Machu Picchu, a Guided tour (approximately 2 hours and 30 Minutes), is given by your Guide and after this you can explore the mysterious city by yourselves. If you still have energy you can also climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (2720 masl / 8890 feet). It takes 45 minutes to reach the top. Also if for Huaynapicchu there are not available spaces you can also climb the Mountain of Machu Picchu which takes 1h 15 minuts to get to the top (you need to le tus know in advance if you want to clim up one of those mountains). After experiencing the grandeur of Machu Picchu you need to go back to Aguas Calientes to take lunch (optional) then you need to go to the station train to go back to Ollantaytambo then to Cusco. About the train, we will provide you the touristic class train, the train departure times can be in between 2:55 pm to 9:50 pm. it depends of the availability of the spaces. Once at Ollantaytambo station our driver will be waiting for you with your names on a sheet of paper, this person will take you back to Cusco. Departure times of the trains will be provided according to the availability of spaces. Note: If you have a tight budget, do not worry you can get this trek at a more comfortable price for your pocket, but in this case you will return to Cusco from Hydroelectrica by bus Instead of the train.
